I'm such a big fan can you please dox my IP 🥺🥺
I'm pretty on board with the headcanon that what Link gets out of being the bearer of the Triforce of Courage is the power of being a video game protagonist, but I genuinely can't decide whether it would be funnier if he's 100% aware of how much bullshit his everything is, or if he honestly doesn't realise.
Like, does he know that normal people can't recover from life-threatening wounds in a matter of minutes by drinking a jar of really good soup? It's the sort of thing you'd assume would be obvious just from being around other human beings, and yet.
The fact that Breath of the Wild Link's laser-parrying trick is something that only works for him is made explicit in the dialogue, so presumably he's at least aware that it's exceptional, but does he understand that it's complete bullshit, or does he think it's just a skill issue?
Link: No, that's fair, if I fuck up the timing I have to eat a laser to the chest and that is, understandably, extremely painful, so I don't recommend you practice this unless you're really confident about your timing.
Random Guard:...Link people die if they take those to the chest.
Link: I mean you should be angling yourself, i'm not saying to just let your sternum take a whole blow, to just take it square, that's a terrible idea
Random Guard: It explodes rocks.
Link: You have armor for a reason my guy.
Random Guard: ...
Link: If it helps, drinking some fire resist potions has proven to be moderately effective for me.
Random Guard: The Ones you apply to your skin?
Link: What
Random Guard: What
Watching cartoons in the late 1990s before "Nazis are bad" became a politically charged sentiment was a real trip because you could flip on the TV on Saturday mornings and see brightly coloured cartoon heroes beating the shit out of baddies in clearly identifiable Nazi uniforms, but the Nazis would have no discernible goals beyond being generally nasty because network standards prohibited children's media from acknowledging the concept of death.
Frankly, the reason I don't post very much about my disability situation is because every time I complain about the difficulty of finding suitable assistive devices, I have to deal with a swarm of dipshits rocking up in the notes convinced that they've solved the problem after five minutes on Google. Y'all know who you are.
A couple of pro tips:
People in the UK and various other countries believe Americans are “sue-happy” because they’ll hear “funny” news stories about all these over the top lawsuits, but here’s the thing: you guys already know that our medical bills can be in the hundreds to thousands for treating something you get treated for free.
A lawsuit, any lawsuit at all, will legally force many insurance providers to cover a medical expense, and nearly all of these cases are asking solely for the amount of that bill. When you hear the CRAAAZY story of someone suing their own mother for getting hurt in her backyard, it’s because their mother’s insurance company will have to pay for the medical bill and neither of them lose any money. They not only agreed to this together in most cases but the mother may have even offered first. She may have even chose the insurance she did in case of this very event. That’s just how fucked up our money-driven systems became.

an internal memo leaked from ceo steve huffman saying the "noise" of the blackout will die out and they just need to weather it until we give up. fuck you spez.
first of all it's OVER EIGHT THOUSAND subreddits that went dark.
second of all he clearly doesn't give one single shit about the users or the UNPAID army of mods who slog through a million miles of shit every day to keep illegal and offensive content off the site (i'm a mod in a small fandom subreddit and even the shit i've seen is beyond the pale) and therefore make it appealing to the advertizers.
you have no fucking business without us. and you don't care one single bit about it.
he clearly did not mean for this memo to leak, but someone at reddit thought it was important enough to send it out anyway. please spread it (spreddit?) especially because so much of reddit is still in blackout.
This feels very similar to the uproar they LITERALLY JUST HAD in the D&D community over changes that would have negatively impacted third party creators. People started canceling their subscriptions to the paid service and Wizards of the Coast really thought they could get away with it by issuing a weak apology and waiting it out.
The community got angrier, so WotC thought they could get away with it by backing down to a half measure.
The community got even ANGRIER.
WotC ended up backing down to such an extent that they not only canceled all of the planned changes but released their core material under a creative commons license to boot, putting them BEHIND their starting position.
This is what we should be aiming for. I've used reddit daily for like fifteen years, but sometimes the only thing you can do to save a community you love is to genuinely be willing to walk away until the corporate bigwigs in charge get it through their heads that they actually NEED users. I want to make this the year of companies fucking around and finding out that unhappy users can cause them problems. Starve the bastards out and make them realize they need us more.
